Teachers are required to attend bi-weekly professional development sessions that enhance their understanding/skills/practices in teaching a balanced literacy framework. 

 

Teachers will apply concepts from the professional development sessions to classroom practice.  The Literacy Coordinator will provide coaching support. 

 

Teachers will have opportunities to reflect and modify their teaching strategies to become the most effective teachers they can be.

 

Intermediate teachers will be given opportunities to learn balanced literacy strategies through various study sessions groups.  Guided Reading by Fountas and Pinnell will be the focus of the study groups.

We administer the Iowa Test of Basic Skills to students in Grades 2, 5.
