In order to accomplish our mission, we envision and will provide:

  • an instructional program which is developmentally appropriate to meet the needs of lifelong learners entering he 21st century.
  • A safe, orderly welcoming and nurturing environment so that lifelong learners can pursue their goals with a strong sense of accomplishment.
  • Opportunities so that lifelong learners will understand respect, responsibility and their rights as citizens
  • Experiences which will encourage an appreciation for academic achievement, the arts, athletics, cultural diversity, our heritage, and life’s finest attainments.

            District-wide balanced literacy plan is being implemented in 2001-2002 under the auspices of consultant Dr. Karen Swisher, who was a presenter of OAESA’s Leadership for Literacy Program in 2000-2001.

 

 

What are your present/future plans for staff development?

Revise and implement plan having literacy specialists in every school working in each classroom, Grades1-4, 30 minutes daily, conducting guided reading groups with the teacher.  West School will have 2.5 literacy specialits.
